Please reach us at aspirewomenshealth@gmail.com if you cannot find an answer to your question.
ASPIRE Women's Health services anyone who identifies as a woman, or experiences the challenges of womanhood (for example hormonal changes caused by female reproductive organs). ASPIRE's services are currently limited to those 18 years and older.
Women identifying individuals and those who experience the challenges of womanhood (for example hormonal changes caused by female reproductive organs) have different physical, and cognitive needs than their male identifying counterparts. There are many reasons for this such as: different life transitions (perinatal and perimenopausal to name two), different social and family norms, different symptom presentation, along with physiological differences influencing medical interventions (such as drug metabolism). Women's health is a large and complex field of study; one we do not understand enough about. Unfortunately, this can lead to less then ideal outcomes for women seeking physical and cognitive care. ASPIRE is passionate about helping women receive the care they deserve so that they can live long, happy and fulfilling lives.
Due to the limitations of licensure ASPIRE Women's Health can only provide services to individuals who are currently residing in the province of Ontario, Canada.
Please note clients must physically be in Ontario during their treatment sessions.
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) has been demonstrated to be an effective clinical treatment for anxiety, depression, and behavioral disorders. All people can benefit from CBT as it is a goal focused, strength based approach which works with the client to build coping skills in practical situations. CBT has been shown to be effective in treating perinatal and perimenopausal concerns including, but not limited to: post partum depression, mood swings, and managing hot flashes.
No treatment, physical or cognitive is ever guaranteed. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) has been proven to be a long lasting beneficial treatment for most people experiencing a range of cognitive concerns including: depression, anxiety, and mood disorders. It has been researched in thousands of peer review, and systematic articles since the 1970's when it first became wide spread. In some studies CBT has demonstrated similar effectiveness to anti-depressant medications, with longer lasting effects. However, the benefits of CBT are case specific and depend on a range of factors including client willingness to participate in joint action planning, as well as factors outside of the client's control such as genetic pre-disposition.
Within the province of Ontario six licensing colleges are legally allowed to perform the controlled act of psychotherapy, including the College of Nurses of Ontario. Sarah is a Registered Nurse who has undergone further training to become a Registered Nurse Psychotherapist. While some private insurance companies provide funds for Cognitive Behavior Therapy not all provide funds for RN Psychotherapists. This is simply because RNs within the province of Ontario have recently been granted the ability to provide CBT to clients. Please check with your insurance to determine if they provide funds for RN Psychotherapy prior to booking your initial appointment. Advocacy letters to provide to your insurance provider are available upon request.
